PSPRS Board – Unaccountable Political Hacks

Severance for fired pension boss is a joke on taxpayers
Last week’s article on the state public-safety pension boss illustrates perfectly why Arizonans should never vote to raise taxes (“Ousted pension boss gets big severance deal,” Republic, Friday).
Here, we have the spectacle of an unaccountable hack hired by unaccountable political hacks. Then, when the hack commits egregious acts that no longer can be ignored, the political hacks “fire” him and reward his ineptitude with a large pension (after only 16 years) and pay his salary for the remainder of the year.
What the heck? It’s only money — yours.
Unfortunately, this joke is on Arizona taxpayers — again.
Arizonans should push aggressively to have most government functions moved to the private sector, where poor performance can be dealt with swiftly and decisively. Taxpayers would not be on the hook to pay inept hacks for the rest of their lives.
