Fire chief gets $162K a year [PSPRS] pension. But there’s more…
Retiring Phoenix Fire Chief Bob Khan will be leaving his job next month with a six-figure annual pension plus at least one huge check.
Documents obtained by 12 News from pension officials show Khan will receive a lifetime pension of more than $162,000 a year, not far off his salary of $188,188 a year.
He also gets a one-time, $587,000 payment under a special pension program for police and firefighters, known as DROP.
There’s more to come when Khan retires at the end of next month — he’ll get another check for unused vacation and sick days. That number won’t be calculated until Khan’s last day, Phoenix spokeswoman Toni Maccarone said..
The 54-year old Khan has been with the department for 32 years, the last eight as chief.
